Bayushi Courtier School Techniques
Rank 1: Weakness Is My Strength – Free Raises on Contested Social Roll for every 3 points (rounded off) the opponent possesses in Mental and Social Disadvantages. Free Raise for Courtier (Gossip) and concealing source of gossip is free.
Rank 2: Shallow Waters – After a few minutes of conversation, may make a Contested Roll of Investigation/Awareness against Etiquette/Awareness. Success means learning lowest Mental Trait and lowest Social Skill that has at least one Rank. May spend a Void Point to learn next lowest in both.
Rank 3: Secrets Are Birthmarks – During a conversation lasting more than a couple minutes, may make a Contested Roll of Courtier (Manipulation)/Awareness against Etiquette (Courtesy)/Awareness to force them to revealing a Mental or Social Disadvantage, or Advantage should there not be a Disadvantage. If a Disadvantage is found this way, you may take, with GM’s permission, a 2-Point Blackmail Advantage against that person for no cost.
Rank 4: Scrutiny’s Sweet Sting – Any time you make a Contested Social Skill Roll against someone whom you have Blackmail, their dice cannot explode. Any time you make a Contested Social Skill Roll against someone, you may spend a Void Point to force them to use a different Mental Trait, rather than the normal Trait associated with the Skill.
Rank 5: No More Masks – A number of times per session equal to your School Rank, you may make a Contested Social Skill Roll of Courtier (Gossip)/Awareness against their Etiquette (Courtesy)/Awareness. If you have Blackmail against the opponent, gain +5k0 on the roll. If you succeed, you may add a Disadvantage on the target: Bad Reputation, Sworn Enemy, or Obligation (to someone of your choice). The Disadvantage lasts for one month, unless the GM decides the target takes sufficient action to remove it. The Technique cannot be used on someone already under the effect.
